The subject is quite special and the conclusion definitive… No doubt it is a project signed Samuel Bollendorff. We have worked a lot with Samuel Bollendorff for the design of his website. Naturally, Samuel has allowed us to attempt to create, for the first time probably in the webdoc’s world, a webdoc in HTML5….

The design and creation of this webdoc in HTML5 fully rely on the 3WDOC technology. This experiment has meant to prove several things in particular that the use of the HTML5 in order to tell stories on the web is perfectly legitimate and can fulfil editorial and quality requirements for a photojournalist like Samuel Bollendorff who is not nobody in the small world of webdoc.

With Samuel Bollendorff, there are always good reasons to spur our sleepy consciousness as consumer. You will not read the same way what is written on the bottle of milk when you are about to breakfast every morning.

The subject was directed by Samuel Bollendorff on behalf of the Centre National de l’Audiovisuel – Luxembourg.

You can see The milk crisis by Samuel Bollendorff, webdocumentary in HTML5 using 3WDOC Player at:

Some information about the creation of this webdocumentary:

Some additional effects have been incorporated specifically:

  • The typewriter effect – gradual appearance of the text like a typewriter
  • The MouseMove effect – appearance and disappearance of elements in the movement of the mouse.

Just as a reminder, what is the purpose of 3WDOC Player? Its main goal is to facilitate the narration on the web by making available to photographers, writers and directors but also web agencies and web professionals a tool for designing, editing and publishing all or part of their multimedia website or their interactive web documentary in HTML5 (interactive documentary).

This is not a simple video player in HTML5.

This player is written in javascript and is manageable through the simple edition of the source code of a web page in HTML5. The code to implement this player will soon be available on our site. It comes with extensive documentation to allow anyone with few knowledge of HTML to easily take control and create their own interactive multimedia web documentary or website.

This demo is visible in all modern browsers in their latest versions:

  • Google Chrome : a champion in the HTML5 interpretation HTML5. The browser allows optimal viewing of all sequences.
  • Safari : One of the first browsers to have chosen the HTML5 as the spearhead of the new generation multimedia playback.
  • Firefox : Good user experience with the exception of video playback which for now is a less fluid than in Chrome and Safari.
  • Opera : Perfect display.

At Hecube – 3WDOC, for the first time, we are expecting the release of Internet Explorer 9. For the moment, users of older versions (IE7, IE8) will be asked to download GCF (Chrome Frame) that will give HTML5 capabilities to the browser and allow them to view the webdoc perfectly.

We invite you to download and use the Chrome browser directly to view the entire web documentary … It is so far the best experience obtained according to our various tests.
